We do a lot of radio interviews at M Com Publishing and M Communications. In the past when we have hosted a show, we learned really quickly what to do and what not to do. Here are a couple of pointers:
1. Be prepared. This goes for hosts and guests. Hosts should confirm their guest spot and guests should know where to call in, who the hosts are and know the show format. Hosts should know who they are interviewing and know how to pronounce their names correctly. For a really funny interview that happened this week, click here to sign up for our monthly newsletter, the M-Dash.
2. Plug away. Now, some programs will directly tell you that you cannot plug your company. For the most part here, follow the rules because you want to get asked to be on again or you might want your clients on. There are ways to get around this without pissing people off too. For example, when asked a question you could respond with, “At M Communications Inc.com we normally ….” Play nice though. In addition, if you are a guest and you are allowed to plug, always remember to promote your website, book, upcoming event or whatever. If you are a host – do the same and plug your guests for your next show. They will like this.
