Although, I feel like I have been on a rocket with my own companies; I do walk our clients through their own rocket launches and want to share a couple of rules.
All space cadets need a mission plan. Here is the main rule of thumb and if you choose not to listen to me and fail I will readily say, “I told you so.” More often than not however, our clients will listen to us and follow instructions accordingly. You need to plan out your launch, whether it is a NASA launch, new product or book. Once you have a date where you know you will have said product in hand … start backing up time because you will need to have certain marketing ducks in a row. For example you are not going to want to do any promotion or PR or advertising until you have a live website, a media kit/online brochure, blog and a newsletter. Oh, and most importantly do not spend any money on promotion until you have all of these ducks in a row – you will lose money and we will personally make fun of you on our radio show.
