At M Communications and M Com Publishing, we get PR requests from reporters. These are great, because they are specific requests for stories from reporters and they result in coverage for our clients. Now the request in the title of this blog, occurred last week, and when I was done snickering about it … it got me thinking about one particular questions, “What do you want to be famous for?” Now, some people in the PR industry are of the mindset that any PR is good PR. My opinion? Do something fun on occasion, but keep your PR campaign related to your business. Why? Now, when I hear about 5 year-olds cussing, my first thought is if your child is cussing, they are probably getting that from a parent. Second, by participating in this type of PR article you are 1. Announcing to the whole world that you are a bad parent and 2. Although most parents have the occassional slip up, you are also announcing to the world that you have a swearing problem. My point? Most people do not like to hire people with a “potty mouth.”
