The Test … Product Testing Gone Wrong

product testing picBefore any good publicist promotes a product or service, he/she needs to test the merchandise. This is in addition to reviewing product information online and checking references. For example, I was recently asked to to promote what I am going to call a gummy bear product. Every single one of the gummy products tasted terrible. Since I personally didn’t want to make a reporter get sick on live television and obviously did not want to put my name on this marketing campaign, I politely declined. Well, one of my colleagues recently did not fair out so well. Basically, this product was endorsed by celebs, approved of by the FDA and was supposed to help your system with digestion. Maybe she should have not have trusted the FDA study and certainly should have not have tried the product at a night club, but the end result was a public display of vomit. She obviously did not take on the client and although enjoyed the weight loss, seriously rethought of the timing of her product test. My point? This test clearly failed and at the end of the they day, while you should undoubtedly personally try out your client’s products, you way want to not take FDA studies at face value and try those you are supposed to eat at public places.
