Say No to Diva Social Media Behavior

If there is one thing that drives me nuts, it is blatant self-promotion via social media and the worst culprits are on Facebook. The points below are a following list of things to do not do, if you do not already know this  already. That goes along with telling people you are famous and telling people you are an expert on XYZ topic. Chances are, if you have to tell people you are an expert or a celebrity you are not. You do not see the founder of Yahoo of running around telling everyone they are Einstein. Annoying behavior is as follows:

1. Posting on other walls in an effort to self -promote. Do not use the contacts of others or blatantly post your event/whatever soap box you are standing on to promote yourself. You may find your posts being deleted. If this is the case, maybe you should stop posting on that person’s wall. Just some food for thought.

2. Unrelated posts on a long string of comments to self-promote. Not only is this annoying to the person that originally posted their comment, the 50 other people on the string are not going to be interested in your candle party. Please stop posting items that are unrelated in strings, especially when it is your business page and you want more likes.

3. Do not BLATANTLY solicit business. This is the worst offender by far. I have had three people contact me not only to want me in their down line for their MLM company, not having any idea what I do. They all wanted meetings (I said no). And, my personal favorite was someone who also had no idea what I have been doing for the last 6 years tell me I was tired and should sell coffee instead. This was after I responded to a message on my cell phone on an important business matter. After I said “no”, he still wants to have coffee. I am busy until 2018. I also appreciate the fact that all of the above offenders wanted access to my rolodex. I will get right on that.
